I have previously posted a question about modification of the zoom range on the 580ex II flashgun with Canon EOS 7D, with a bunch of lenses. People said that the flashgun would change the zoom automatically for each lens. However, the flash zoom I get from every lens is stuck to 14mm.
I use the following lenses:
Canon EF-S 100-400 2.8L (should be operating with flash zoom to 105)
Canon EF-S 17-85 (zoom should be changeable)
Canon EF-S 60mm 2.8 Macro
As I have said in my previous question, I was able to modify the zoom of the flash until yesterday. Any ideas what may have caused the zoom to be unchangeable and how I can correct this ? It is really a pain in my butt shooting at 400mm with a wide 14mm flash firing.

There is a switch inside the flash head where the diffuser rests, and this switch causes the head to read 14mm... there is no other way to get the flash to that setting. You can't do it in manual zoom mode, only with the diffuser panel pulled out.
Pull the diffuser and bounce card out, then re-seat them both. If that doesn't fix your problem, it probably needs to go back to Canon.
