I dont really know what the differences are, but its between .25x, .40x, and .42x. What are the differences?

Seriously, none of these. If you want the best quality/most reliable go with a 10.5mm f/2.8 or a 16mm f/2.8. All of the photographers that I work with use either one and they are VERY reliable. I shoot about 40 - 50 weddings per year and use my fisheye quite a bit. I haven't had to replace it yet and I've had it for a while. The 10.5mm is pretty expense (in fact, it will cost you more than the D3000) but as far as lenses go, you really do get what you pay for.
