i was looking at: Nikon Nikkor Telephoto lens - 85 mm - F/1.4 - Nikon F
but is very pricey so i was looking for something that doesnt cost 1200 but can do the job just the same.
the other lens i was looking at is a Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens

How low is the light level
I do use the 18-200 mm lens under low light conditions with no real problems, but you will have to use higher ISO settings
On your D90, the 85 mm f/1.4 (or even f/1.8) is a prime lens, so will not give you the flexibility a 18-200 mm lens will
They are such different lenses for to different applications, only you can determine which is going to be the best for you and your photographic goals
