Nikon 18-200 VR II, One Of The Very Good, All Reason, Walkabout Lenses
Beauty is the eye of the beholder and for that reason, I think, is one's opinion of the camera lens. I've learned progressively that lens reviews usually are helpful, but they tend to be just opinions. Yes, beyond doubt, you generally get better optics with more expensive lenses, but it's never a guarantee. And for reasons someone can only wonder about, oftentimes two copies of the Nikon 18-200mm VR II will produce varies greatly results. For example, my friend Sara, who is as nuts about buying (we're like compulsive buyers) and utilizing Canon lenses as my organization is about buying and utilizing Nikon ones, has a Canon EF-S 18-55mm system lens that produces images so tack sharp by means of its whole range that may make you cry.
so it goes with tremendous zooms, these wonderful lenses of which go from pretty wide to extended. If you look in the reviews of any of them, some people claim unpleasant results, while others damage their heads, because there're just loving them to be able to death.

My first superzoom was a Sigma 18-200 we got about five years ago and I was amazed with what I could do with only 1 lens. Plus my pictures were pretty darn sharpened. The lens was costlier then, than it is currently. It's still a good lens, it weighs a couple ounces less than a pound and if I only happens to be satisfied, I'd have preserved a bundle of money. Ah well. Anyway, I had a chance to try out the Tamron 18-200 in addition back then, but I found the Sigma. It seemed to be a coin toss. during the time I thought both lenses could be good general, all function, walkabout lenses. They probably would not be as sharp or maybe fast as primes along with wouldn't be as gentle as shorter zooms, however heck, one lens which went up from 18 to 200mm (okay 27 to 350mm inside the real world), such an issue.
Both lenses were five star lenses so far as I was concerned, both equally still are, because they are what they are, a very good compromise. If you're expecting a lens that should reach out across any dark night and seize a shot of lovers making out with the beach, then you do not want these lenses, but when searching for a good general walkabout standard zoom lens, both will suit you plus they won't break your loan company.
But they don't have image stabilization as Sigma came out with it, I had to go. So I shelved the Sigma zoom pondered, (thankfully I didn't offer it) and bought the Sigma 18-200 OS in addition to Sigma's Optical Stabilizer previously worked great. I got clearer handheld shots in lower light, but they came at a price, almost half your pound. It doesn't could be seen as much, eight ounces (7. 6 to be exact), but try carrying that around on your shoulder the entire day. I really noticed this difference, especially when i used to be shooting.
I probably wouldn't have been paid to that auction site using my fairly new standard zoom lens, if it hadn't also been for Tamron. They came out utilizing their Tamron 18-250 and I had to have it. A bigger arrive at, the heck with picture stabilization. Not only could I go entirely from 27 to 375mm within the real world, but manged to get back a bit above six ounces, the zoom lens was lighter. So now pondered two super zooms, that has been good, because I fall out people shooting with my sister a lot.
So one would believe I'd be satisfied, but if the Nikon 18-200 came out, well Nikon optics in a very superzoom. I had to have it, so the Tamron travelled up for auction (because i merely loved the Sigma, even though it didn't reach as far). the actual Nikon lens focused faster, but not that with more speed then the other 2, had image stabilization and was faster for the long end and it took great shots, nonetheless it weighed more than another lenses, coming in with a whopping 20 ounces plus it was creepy, creepy, creepy adequate no zoom lock. the opposite lenses had almost no zoom creep and they also had a zoom locking mechanism, which I never utilised. Very annoying the lens creep was, still, great shots from your great lens.
Satisfied, properly for awhile, then came 2008 and the Tamron 18-270 with its VC version of image stabilization and up for auction went this expensive Nikkor lens. sure, I still hung for the my first super lens, the Sigma. For convinced the Nikkor was some sort of five star lens, but her can't justify more as compared to two super zooms at anyone time.
The Tamron lens actually weighed a fraction less than the Nikkor it changed. It was a bit slower for the long end, was a little stiff in the zooming, but easy to get used to and almost no, at times no, zoom creep and it has a lock. It's simply one heck of a lens. Sometimes it's somewhat slow to autofocus inside lowlight, but still i do believe it finds its focus faster than i would, but not as fast as being the Nikkor.
I should put here that Nikon provides upgraded their 18-200 including a zoom lock. I've dealt with one and not simply have they added that soar lock, but it doesn't often creep nearly as significantly, but that could you have to be the copy I used. I should also speak about that Sigma has appear with their Sigma 18-250 OS i always was lucky enough to apply for a month. that is definitely just one super great lens. It focuses fast and i believe it finds its focus better in low light versus Tamron 18-270. Also this new Sigma features a super quiet motor, though I've never really been bothered from the sound of a concentrating lens.
By reading other reviews of these lenses, I've learned that they are all subject to zoom creep, so I suppose in the main, I've been lucky. every one of these lenses are very great, at least all from the copies I've used. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them. However, if you select Nikon, you're going to be paying a lot more more. You get a slightly faster lens around the long end and you have Nikon quality, but Sigma and Tamron give quality in the process and Tamron warranties their lenses for six decades, so they're pretty confident that they are building a great product or service (and now they're part of Sony).
So through my whole super zoom knowledge, which one do I wind up using the most? people guessed it, that Sigma i bought five years ago. much like the proverbial Timax, "It requires a lickin' and continues on tickin'. " should the day is bright as well as I'm going people shooting it is the one I put about my camera, because it's light and it's photographs are true.
