Answer:
Well to start it off the f/2.8 aperture are expensive because they allows you to use a faster shutter speed, which is great for sports. Of the list you gave the Nikon 24-70 and the 17-55 are the best by far. But I would stay away from them just cause of the price unless you have the money by all means get it. If I had to get one lens on that list I would get a 16-85 allows for a good amount of wide range about 24 on one side then reaches out to about 120 on the far end which makes it the perfect walk-around unless you include the Nikon 24-70. Also you could check out Nikon's 18-200 but I've heard alot of mixed reviews, as for the 24-120 I yet to hear anything good worth mentioning never used or heard much about the 24-85. I've heard alot of great things about the Tamron 17-50 but for me need I find it doesn't have enough reach. My suggestion is to get either the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 just for the fact that it has an aperture of f/2.8 or get the 16-85 which is a phenomenally great lens that's a little over priced. But if you got the money the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 is well worth the price.
