David Bayles and Ted Orland in their book Art and Fear state that “making art now means working in the face of uncertainty; it means living with doubt and contradiction, doing something no one much cares whether you do, and for which there may be neither audience nor reward”. Art making has been a struggle for me recently. For sometime I believed that I had to mold, manipulate and pose the subject and background together to make the photographs something an audience would care about. More recently I have decided to bring my previous educational background back into my photography work. My background is in anthropology, the study of human nature, human society and the human past, and my hope is by being objective and observing small clues about those that I am photographing I will be able to capture them in a true light with a fresh style. I want the photographs I take to represent people being real. Images that are a moment in time, that capture real life and real memories.
Life.Style.Memories.
